Successful Schoombee Farmers’ Day

Another successful Pannar farmers’ day took place on 24 March in the Schoombee area. Hosted by Eugène Marais, Pannar representative for the Northeastern Cape, the event may have been simple in setup, but it delivered real value where it matters most — in the field.

With a gazebo set up alongside the Pannar trial plots, farmers had the opportunity to walk through the trials, assess crop performance firsthand and engage in meaningful conversations around production and yield potential. Kerry Rowlands, Pannar agronomist for KwaZulu-Natal and the Cape, also shared practical, actionable insights on small adjustments farmers can make to help optimise yield.

And, as always, no Pannar farmers’ day would be complete without ending the day around the braai. As the sun set over Schoombee, farmers gathered around the fire to enjoy good food, great company and a memorable evening under the stars.
