WANTED: FARMER
Must be an engineer, meteorologist, biologist, mechanic, financial strategist, team leader and problem-solver. Must be available before sunrise, after sunset, on weekends and public holidays. Must thrive under pressure, adapt to uncertainty and never stop learning. Must stay hopeful when things beyond your control threaten everything you've worked for.
Seems impossible? For most people, it probably is. Yet this is what farmers across South Africa do every day, while navigating fluctuating markets, unpredictable weather and rising input costs.
For farmers, farming is more than just a profession. It is a calling and a commitment to their families, their employees and their communities. And its impact extends far beyond the farm gate. Every loaf of bread, bowl of pap, plate of vegetables and roll of boerewors on the braai begins with the work of a farmer.
At Pannar, we’ve had the privilege of standing alongside South African farmers for generations. We’ve witnessed their determination and passion firsthand, and we understand that behind every harvest lies a remarkable story of perseverance.
No job description can fully capture what it means to be a farmer.
So today, we would simply like to say:
Thank you.
Thank you for showing up, day after day. Thank you for continuing when things get tough. And thank you for the role you play in nourishing our country and strengthening our communities.
