Despite a challenging start to the season, another successful Pannar trial was recently harvested just outside Underberg in KwaZulu-Natal.
The trial was conducted by farmer Kyran Kraupner in collaboration with Pannar’s representative for Southern KwaZulu-Natal, Andrew du Plessis. According to Pannar agronomist for the region, Kerry Rowlands, the team faced pests early in the season, followed by a dry mid-season, which added further pressure to the trial. Despite these challenges, the trial delivered excellent results, achieving an average yield of 12 t/ha.
Yellow maize hybrids PAN 4P-928PW and PAN 4P-952PW were standout performers, delivering around 1 t/ha above the trial average. The Roundup Ready hybrids PAN 4R-552R and PAN 4R-528R also performed strongly, achieving yields comparable to our PW hybrids, demonstrating their reliability under challenging conditions.
A big thank you to the entire team – including Misty, the farm dog – for helping make this trial such a memorable one!
