PAN 5A-163 and PAN 5R- 563R is a new white hybrid platform with strong vigour

PAN 5A-163 and PAN 5R- 563R is a new white hybrid platform with strong vigour. This planting is at Beestepan Boerdery in the vicinity of Middelburg in Mpumalanga. In this video Fanie Roux, Pannar's representative in Carolina and Sunnyboy, Beestepan's Irrigation Manager, are admiring a PAN 5A-163 plant. Fanie says, "They are particularly impressed with the strong vigour from day one and the hybrid's strong root system. The plants are now at V8 leaf stage. Beestepan planted approximately 1,200 ha of the PAN 5A-163 and PAN 5R-563R platform this year. The early indication is extremely promising”. The plant population is 52,000 p/ha under dryland and 68,000 p/ha under irrigation.

The PAN 5A-163 white hybrid platform complements the PAN 4A-111 platform very well. It has good overall leaf disease tolerance and very good yield stability – particularly on the moderate potential fields. It produces good grain quality and is prolific at lower plant populations.
