2022 Pannar Technology Day Middelburg

Pannar recently hosted a technology day at the Olifants River Lodge near Middelburg on the 2nd of March, where new scientific developments were introduced to farmers. Pictured here is Hardu Prinsloo from Delmas and SJ Landman from Hendrina, who each won a weather station at the event. At the back are Gerhard Engelbrecht and Joe Payne, agronomist and regional manager respectively.

Gerhard Engelbrecht, Pannar Agronomist for the Eastern Highveld and Limpopo, discussed the new PowerCore™ technology, a high-performing, insect-resistant seed trait that effectively helps to protect crops from destructive above-ground lepidopteran pests, such as the maize stalk borer and spotted maize stem borer. This exceptional trait technology, which combines strong insect protection with greater yield potential, is now available in Pannar’s portfolio of high yield genetics, starting with two yellow hybrids.

Dr Antony Jarvie, soybean breeder, discussed the new Soybean Technology Pipeline of E3® and Conkesta E3® Soybeans. Corteva Agriscience is working with local regulatory bodies to bring E3 and Conkesta E3 soybeans to the South African market. Enlist E3® soybeans offer the most advanced trait technology available in soybean production globally, providing a new standard for weed control and yield performance. Tolerance to 2,4-D choline, glyphosate and glufosinate allows you to use Enlist Duo® or Enlist One™ herbicide to get tough weeds out of the way, so each Enlist E3 soybean can achieve full genetic potential. Conkesta E3® soybeans stack this Enlist® weed control system with broad lepidopteran insect protection. Dr Antony Jarvie will discuss these exciting innovations and their future incorporation into Pannar’s product pipeline.
